Illness and Geopathic Stress
Research into Geopathic Stress started in the early 1900′s with scientists, based mainly in Europe and America. By 1929, a Baron Von Pohl from Germany, made a claim that cancer was caused by negative energy currents under the bed of sufferers of the disease. He initiated tests in a Bavarian town and was given permission to survey the town with dowsing rods. His results showed high levels of coincidence between houses with measurable geopathic stress and those who has died from cancer. He repeated his tests in other towns and found similar results.
Research continued and the work of German doctor Ernst Hartmann became a cornerstone of geopathic stress. He discovered that the earth is covered with a grid of invisible power lines, some six to eight feet apart. Sleeping over a convergance of these lines with other geological factors will predispose you to ill health. The energy grid he discovered is known as the Hartmann Grid. Over the next 40 years, Dr.Hartman continued his research and published three of the most respected books on the subject.
Austrian school teacher, Kathe Bachler’s interest in Geopathic Stress was initiated by watching the children in her classrooms and her work has been instrumental in furthering the knowledge of geopathic stress. After examining 3000 properties in 14 countries and interviewing 11000 people she concluded that sleeping in beds or sitting at desks in geopathically stressed areas was responsible for 95% of behavioural problems in children. She also had a great interest in cancer cases and her findings concluded that 95% of cancer patients were sleeping or sitting in geopathically stressed areas.
So what does that all mean for the average person today?
We are more likely to encounter areas of geopathic stress than in olden days as land is at a premium, houses are built closer together, the permanent construction of houses means they are occupied for much longer than say a mud hut, the building materials used are more electrically conductive than natural ones and when you add to this to other environmental factors that contribute to ill health, it is hardly surprising that we suffer more chronic conditions than ever.
Here are just some of the medical conditions which are usually found in areas of geopathic stress: hypertension, cancer, migraines, mental illness, infertility,SIDS (cot death), eczema, asthma, myalgic encephalomyeltis (ME), ADD, ADHD, endocrine disfunctions and heart disease.
More information on just two of the above conditions:
Infertility: Women are usually more at risk from geopathic stress as their hormone systems are more sensitive. Infertility rates are rising and many charities concerned with conception issues are now recommending that couples who have been trying for a baby should check their homes for both geopathic and electromagnetic stress.
Cancer: One of the most notorious effects of geopathic stress, cancer has been proven to be present in almost exactly the spot where two or more geopathways (lines of geopathic stress) converge. Cancer cells are continuously produced in mammals and it is the job of a healthy immune system to destroy these. Unfortunately, the immune system is compromised in subjects exposed to geopathic stress.
Even though Geopathic Stress is present in these diseases, we are not happy to stop the testing there. There are so many other modern day factors which contribute to ill health and they mainly be divided into one of three types:
- Physical – the taking of non-prescription and some prescription drugs, smoking, alcohol, lack of exercise, food additives and colourings, exposure to man-made toxins such as asbestos, petrol fumes and other carcinogens.
- Emotional- Longer working days, higher divorce rates, crime, families away from the idea of a nuclear family, bullying, crowded streets, money concerns and depression. It is inevitable that at some point theemotional stress will result in a physical manifestation of illness.
- Environmental – high voltage electrical appliances, electromagnetic frequencies, polluted atmosphere, rising greenhouse gases, intensive farming leading to poorer quality food, mobile phone and wifi pollution.

Farms, Stables and Geopathic Stress
A rising proportion of the work we do is concerned with stables and farms. For many years we have worked with leading trainers around the British Isles Downs, identifying the optimum position for their stables and each particular horse.
An increased awareness in animal welfare has enlightened many farmers and owners to the fact that animals are more sensitive to their surroundings (often more so) than previously believed.
Animals do not come with preconceived ideas of whether an idea will work or not. They have no mental conditioning for failure and are ideal barometers of whether a therapy or an idea will be successful.
Following are two case studies from our files of work with animals
Case Study One: The Military Base and a Nearby Farm
Two years ago, we visited a cattle farm in the North of England, which was adjacent to a military base. An existing client of ours recommended that he see us due to constant, severe headaches. When we were speaking to him, he gave us a little information about the background of the farm and he spoke about a worrying problem with his cattle – 14 of them had aborted their young in a field for no clear reason. It has puzzled the farmer and vets. We arranged to visit the property.
An on-site visit and further investigations revealed that the farm and it’s occupants were being affected by two external factors. The first of these was that the nearby military base had recently has a new and much more powerful radar system installed which was sweeping directly above the farm property, bathing the farmer and cattle in polluting electromagnetic frequencies. This is an example of the inclusive nature of the work we aim to do – we look at every factor which could be affecting the health of the occupants, far beyond the scope of solely Geopathic Stress.
The second problem was high levels of geopathic stress. The rock and soil composition and position of the farm above underground streams was contributing to areas of geopathic stress. The buildings were large and we plotted on a map the affected area.
The farmer rearranged his living and working area to avoid them. After this his headaches improved about 50% but the radar remained as a constant pollutant.
He had already decided to move his cattle to another field he owned and we had identified as ‘safe’ and when a new lease came up at a local smallholding, he moved him and his cattle to the new property.
On a subsequent visit we had reported on the second property and assessed that he would not suffer from the same problems.
Ten months after our intial visit, his headaches and general health were back to normal and the cattle were in tip-top condition.
Case Study Two: Prized Ponies and Some Metal Reinforcements
A little while ago we were asked to visit the home of a horse owner who had heard of our work with stables. With a large house and fields in Hertfordshire, he had encouraged his daughter’s love of horse riding and has built a small stable block and exercise ring for the horses but she had been unable to enjoy the horses as they were constantly unwell.
Both young, the horses should have been in good health but they had never flourished since their arrival at the house. The owner already suspected that the stables were the cause but could not work out why. They had been constructed by a local builder who had used cheaper building materials and the inclusion of cheap steel material as a strengthening material was acting like an amplifier for the naturally occuring areas of Geopathic Stress. The horses were standing directly over the worst areas.
The rubber pelleting in the exercise ring was also toxic to the horses. Both of these factors were revealed as soon as our Geopathic Stress Survey was completed.
The solution: The rubber pelleting was replaced with a natural material. The cheap flooring was removed and replaced with a healthier alternative for the horses and their position in the stables was altered to take advantage of the areas NOT affected by Geopathic Stress.
Within two months all the work was completed and the result was two very happy and healthy horses.
You may be thinking that the cost of the alterations would be prohibitive and why would the owner go to such trouble? The initial price of the horses was a sizable investment and looked on as a long term interest and added to this was the mounting cost of the weekly vet bills for the two sick horses. Overall the money spent on the stables was more than recouped.

Offices, Factories and Shops
With the majority of UK employees engaged in somewhat sedentary jobs – computer based, call centre based, retail or office centred, the exposure to both geopathically stressed areas and electromagnetic pollution is very common.
Even the need to move around the office or to other sites has been lessened with the use of email, intranet and video conferencing.
Just as with domestic properties, we now spend longer in one location than our predecessors who would have shorter working hours, usually walking or cycling to work and would be more active when they returned home.
The term ‘Sick Building Syndrome‘ has become part of our everyday vocabulary since the 1980′s and is recognised by The World Health Organisation as affecting up to 30% of commercial properties.
It was coined to describe offices which have poor ventilation, high levels of electrical equipment, toxic printers and photocopiers, fluorescent lights and poor design or maintenance.
Although not recognised when Sick Building Syndrome was being named, Geopathic Stress is a contributory factor to the health of the building.
The environmental stresses that a workplace puts on the inhabitants could well be adapted to, if the building was not placed on lines of geopathic stress.
Many businesses are now conscious that their overall performance, both in terms of finances and how staff performance can be undermined by unhealthy buildings.
Symptoms can include but are in no means limited to:
- Unease and tension amongst staff
- High levels of absenteeism
- High level of staff turnover
- Customers in geopathically stressed shops will feel less at ease with simply browsing or spending time in the shop.
- Electrical equipment and computers may break down much more frequently and not be as effective.
- The external and internal fabric of the building suffers with crumbling plaster, leaks, damp patches, poor flowing sanitation, electrical problems and air conditioning problems.
Case Study One: The Chair No One Wanted to Sit In
We were asked to visit a firm of accountants in Berkshire, where one of the partners was concerned about events that had taken place over the last seven years.
Since they took occupancy of the building two of their receptionists had died of cancer – one of lung cancer and the other of ovarian cancer.
Not only this but they had a higher than average turnover within the secretarial department and business always seemed to be a struggle.
When we visited the office we measured some of the worst geopathically stressed areas that we have ever seen. One of the grids ran directly under the chair occupied by any receptionists and one side of the building (where the secretarial pool was) was in the middle of a criss-cross of magnetic, electrical and underground water fields.
Unable to be released from the office lease for another three years, we worked on a solution for the company.
The reception area was moved to the other side of the building and the alternative entrance was used. The secretaries office and the filing room were swapped around and harmony and good health was restored to the building.
Our office surveys are frequently performed outside of office hours so the employees and customers don’t become worried about upheaval within the company.
Why would the earth cause such illness?
The human body is a very good conductor of illness. That is why a lightening strike is potentially fatal. It has it’s own chemical electrical circuit (the nervous system) and changes at cellular level with the nucleus are also electro- chemical in nature. It is therefore easy to see how localised streams of magnetic energy, rising from the earth and them self capable of inducing micro-electrical currents will effect the body in some way. Over a period of time this will be the onset of ill health.
How do we survey offices, factories and shops?
After our initial call, we will undertake a free of charge assessment, using desk research and ascertain whether there will be geopathic and geobiological factors that affect your place of work.
We usually visit outside of working hours so as not to interrupt the running of the business.
We can test whole properties or certain areas.
We will need the person responsible for the survey to be present to discuss the solutions and measurements.
Our prices for commercial properties include support and a return visit if necessary to assess whether the changes have been effective.

Choosing the Right Property
Even with the recession slowing down the rate at which we move from house to house, it’s not uncommon for most of us to have eight to nine properties before we settle on, ‘the one.’
As probably the biggest investment any of us will make, choosing the right house is essential. At The Geopathic Stress Company we are not talking about choosing a house for the right schools, motorway access or the off street parking. We are talking about the right house to be healthy in.
In the twenty years we have been seeing clients, certain patterns emerge when choosing a new house:
We’ve lost count of the number of times that a person’s health has deteriorated after moving into a new property. They may have been long term clients of ours, coming to the office regularly for a health check up and then after a looked forward to move, their health takes such a sharp decline it merits investigation.
Very often we discover the house is above an area of geopathic stress. Often the house will be polluted with moulds and spores to which the new resident is highly sensitised. Occasionally the previous residents will have left allergens which produce a reaction to those not used to them.
We’ve also noticed over the years that we get groups of clients who live in close proximity to each other. It would be easy to assume that this is simply one person recommending our services to their neighbours. However we have often noticed that the causes of ill health can be very similar in adjacent areas. Whether it is the effects of geopathic stress or environmental pollutants, we notice clusters of illness.
The subject of ‘cancer clusters’ has always been hotly debated by scientists, with evidence presented from both sides of the argument. While the ‘jury is still out’ on this, we have been able to link common threads between cases of illness in nearby areas.
So at what point in the buying process should you contact us?
The earlier in the property search the better.
We are happy to advise you of major environmental and geopathically stressed areas in your search area.
Once you have shortlisted properties we can liaise with you on which are the healthier option for you and your family.
Due to the fluid and stressful nature of househunting, our services reflect this. We are happy to work with you, finding the best property for your long term health.
Case Study One: Don’t Buy the House with the Underground Stream Flowing Under Your Bedroom!
A number of years ago, one of our client’s was househunting in Hampshire and mentioned to us the house she was buying. We checked the property and discovered that it’s the geological composition of the area, nearby proximity of underground springs and steep gradient the house was built on would indicate a potentially toxic house.
However, circumstances and family pressure meant the purchase went ahead. Within nine months of moving into the property, her husband began to loose weight and become fatigued. After a year of seeing doctors and consultants he was diagnosed with multiple myeloma and cirrhosis of the liver.
On investigation in the house, the very worst geopathically stressed area ran through their bed and straight across his liver area.
Within two years he had died from his condition and on further investigation it was discovered that the adjacent neighbour who lived on the same geopathically stressed line had died of a heart attack at his kitchen table after living there for a year.
There will be many people reading this, who will put it down to coincidence and many scientists will demand irrefutable proof that the two deaths were due to this unseen force. That is their opinion but for those seeking answers and willing to investigate solutions outside of the conventional, there are many possibilities.
Interestingly, the science of geopathic stress and geobiology is widely recognised and accepted in Europe. In Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France, there is nothing unusual about testing a home for geopathic stress.
Case Study Number Two: Why a New Home Spelled Disaster for the Youngest Member of the Family
With a life in the country in mind, a family we had been seeing for many years, decided to move from inner London to an idyllic cottage in rural Berkshire. Within six months of them moving the youngest daughter of the family was very ill and was eventualy diagnosed by Doctors with Myalgic Encephalopathy or ME. The condition meant that attending school was impossible and most of the day was spent sleeping at home.
Upon investigation, we discoverd that the home was less than the safe recommened distance from a high voltage power line and pylons. Also the home had a wood burning stove which had not been porperly maintained and was emitting fuimes into the living area. The house also had many exposed timber beams that had been treated with chemicals prior to the family moving in.
The combination of three different factors had affected the young daughter with longer term effects because during the move she had contracted a virus. If the move had not taken place the young girl probably would have recovered but the new environment was too much for her immune system to cope with.
We work with all our clients’ on a case by case basis, so whether you are in the process of househunting at the moment or simply thinking about moving next year, please call us today and we look forward to discussing your new property.

The Complete Family Home Health Check©
As the main service we offer, The Complete Family Home Health Check© is what we believe to be the most comprehensive assessment of you and your families’ health, in YOUR home.
After all, it’s where you spend most of your time, so why not make it the healthiest it can be?
Developed over 20 years of face to face work with clients and the experience of seeing 30,000 clients both in our offices and in their own homes, we firmly believe we have accounted for most of the factors that bring about ill health.
Many years ago, we never visited client’s in their homes and were puzzled as to why the solutions we suggested would work for sometime but then the condition would return and people were not living at their optimum level of health.
It was only after investigating their own environment, that the pieces of the puzzle began to fall into place.
You may have heard of some of the everyday terms associated with the subject but have never been able to ‘put all the pieces of the puzzle together.’ You may know a little about leylines, dowsing, geopathic stress, electrical pollution, EMF’s, sick building syndrome, chronic fatigue, building on flood plains, cancer clusters. The science of Geobiology and Geopathic Stress is the study of such problems. Why do we get sick? Why do some houses ‘feel’ wrong? Why do illnesses recur? Why do children have so many minor health problems?
How did our ancestors, by comparison, get it so right? Have you ever marvelled at how you can enter an ancient building or monument, perhaps Glastonbury, perhaps Stonehenge or the Pyramids and it feels exactly ‘right’? Calm, healing – just as if it was built to nourish the soul.
Contrast that to the harsh and threatening environments we create today. The concrete jungles many of us live and work in and homes that leave you sapped of energy after a short time or office spaces that leave you tired and wanting to leave the desk.
Add into this the exposure to chemicals we unwittingly bring into our homes and the bombardment of electrical frequencies and we are living far from our optimum environments.
So what did our ancestors know that we don’t? Well, we just stopped ‘listening’ to the earth and as we have developed more technology, difference and faster ways of building, a fast food lifestyle, the effects are taking it’s toll on health and society.
The science of Geobiology is not easily classified but it is a very real and timely study into the earth and how it affects us.
We work with all our clients’ on a case by case basis, so whatever your health worries are, please call us today and we look forward to discussing solutions with you.
